Wedding Cookies

Since I have been dabbling in baking as my second job this past year, my sister Laura asked me to make her wedding cake. After much deliberation I reneged on my aggreement to do that, deciding it would be too much pressure, among some other reasons, so offered to make the favors instead. I made 208 miniature wedding cake butter cookies with royal icing, then piped on Laura and Shannon's new joint monogram in gray and a little pink flower at the top with a pink dragee in the center. My friend, Jill, hooked me up with one of her friend's who has a stationary/paper business called Doodle and Pea and she designed beautiful tags that we tied on each bag.

I new that the cookies would freeze well and since I was leaving a week before Laura's wedding to go over and help, I wanted all the cookie favors to be done before I left. Usually my cookie orders are around 20-40 cookies, never have I tackled 200 before, so I called in back up to help me! :) Brooke, Caroline, L.A., Kristin (not pictured- sorry Kristin), and I worked for about 4 hours bagging all the cookies, cutting ribbon for the bows, punching out the tags and tieing it all together. Thank you SOOO much dear friends for helping me, I wouldn't have been able to finish in time without your help!!

I didn't take any pictures at the wedding of all the cookies arranged on the pretty silver tray but here is a picture of one of the few cookies that was left over after it traveled back home with us.

**UPDATE**
I found a picture that one of my aunt's took of the cookies at the wedding.

A New Valentine's Tradition

Making Valentine's Day cards has been a tradition on my side of the family as long as I can remember. Last year my mom and sisters came over to make cards with me when Daniel was only a wee 4 months old. We decided to do it again this year at my house. My mom and sisters have tons of paper, ribbon and supplies to make creative cards and they were graciously willing to share!

We had some special visitors come by to make a couple cards, Miss Harper, big sister Lucy, and their mom, Stephanie.

Here are just a few of the cards. One of us would make a card, and then someone would copy it but "one up" the first card, they just kept getting cuter and cuter as the night went on. I finally had to go to bed at 11:30, I think mom, Ashley and Laura stayed up working until 1am!

The inside of this card says, "Be my tweet heart!"
